The Real Estate Agency of Curacao tells; A notary helps people to reach legally valid and binding agreements. For example, about the purchase or sale of your house, drawing up a cohabitation contract or business related to your company. If you buy a house on Curacao, the legal delivery will always go through a notary on Curacao. You cannot go to a civil-law notary in the Netherlands or in a country other than Curacao. You can, however, have a power of attorney legalized by another civil-law notary so that you do not have to be present at the signing. We are happy to advise you about the possibilities.
The civil-law notary provides legal advice and takes into account the interests of all involved. A civil-law notary is expert, independent and impartial. The notary records agreements in a notarial deed. In this way it is always clear to everyone what the agreements are. If doubt arises later, the notarial deed provides clarity. In Curacao, a notary is a by the government approved and by court legalised position. There are only ten positions.
