This beautiful, restored, monument located at Hoogstraat Otrobanda can be used for different purposes.
In the past, it was home to a famous patisserie and champagne bar. It could function as a charming Bed & Breakfast (B & B) or service as a stately office building. But, of course, one can also turn it into a residence again, as the building was originally intended when it was built in 1883 by Mr. Ferreira Carlon.
On the ground floor there are two kitchen areas, a covered entrance, three toilets, a front and a central hall and a smaller room.
The first floor is accessible by a separate entrance. Upon entering you will find a staircase with a landing and a spacious kitchen with a beautiful covered porch decorated with charming woodwork. Again you will find a front and center hall, both with the original characteristic wooden floors. The front room has a balcony stretching along its entire length, overlooking the bustling Hoogstraat. Behind the central hall there is a smaller room that is now being used as a walk-in closet with a bathroom. On the right side of the room is another nice balcony. On the other side of the kitchen is a second bedroom with an en suite bathroom.
The roof is in very good condition and is covered with old Dutch rooftiles.
The site currently has five landscaped parking spaces, but there may be many more cars parked with a little creativity.
At the rear of the property there is a plot that also belongs to the offering, with a private entrance to the Curacaostraat. This plot can be used to build, for example, apartments or an extension to the present building. Currently it is a nice courtyard / terrace and it is paved with bricks.
This beautiful and charming building was completely renovated in 2008 with subsidy from Monumentenfonds. More subsidy is available and may be applied for, for example to finance a repainting of the building.
