The Jan Thiel salt pans consist of several shallow pools filled with seawater. These pools were used to extract salt, which was an important industry on the island from the 17th century. Nowadays the salt pans are no longer used for this industry.

How much does the beach at Jan Thiel Beach cost? The entrance fee is 6 NAF per person. This includes parking a car, if there is space. If you want to rent a beach bed, it costs another NAF 6, and for a luxury cabana you pay NAF 75 for a day. You can lie there with two people and you will receive a towel and a bottle of water. Reservations are recommended.
You can also just put your towel down in the sand yourself, which of course costs nothing, but it will make you less comfortable.
